Not because I can't find the words to say...that's usually not a problem. But because I just don't. I don't pray - not nearly enough to consider myself a pray-er. And that is just not acceptable because God calls me to pray, to be in communion with Him.
I have some friends who are great pray-ers. And you can tell, cause when you ask them to pray for you, they do it...RIGHT THEN. That's a sign of a pray-er.
So, God's been speaking to my heart a lot about becoming a better pray-er and it struck me that this is one of those areas of simple obedience that I need to follow through on.
There are lots of scriptures about prayer. I've listed a few below that stir up the Holy Spirit in me and beckon me to the feet of Jesus to pray.
"In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation."
~Psalm 5:3
"This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation."
~Matthew 6:9-13
"I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
~Psalm 139:14
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
~Mark 14:38
I invite you once again to join me in this simple obedience of PRAYER and become a better PRAY-ER.
I'm so glad you found my prayer post! My thing is to become a prayer warrior this year. "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." (James 5:16) That's my goal! :)
